THE VILLAGE FRAMERY 110 SOUTH MAIN STREET ~ PALESTINE, IL 62451 www.thevillageframery.com 618.586.2701 phramer@pioneercity.com
I have converted space in the front of my building to be used as studio space for any interested artists. The idea is to provide a space for artists to come together to work in an enviroment of encouragement and sharing of ideas. A place where you can “get away from daily distractions” that may keep you from your art. There is a large (4’x12’) community table and two drawing tables will be arriving soon or you may bring in your own work table. I will have chairs but I encourage you to bring your own. We will deal with additional lighting as needed. The area is sectioned off by wrought iron railing and you are welcome to leave 'works in progress' and supplies when you choose. I hope artists will be open to the idea of visitors taking a look as you work or asking an occasional question. If any of you would like to conduct classes or hold workshops that would be acceptable and encouraged. Of course your artwork and materials will be subject to coverage under your homeowners insurance. ArtSpace is not intended to be a profit generator for my gallery but I do need
to cover additional
heating & cooling expenses. The fees are as follows: ArtSpace will be open Monday – Saturday 9am – 9pm. Hours are flexible though, so ask about extended times.
Please stop in, email, or call with any questions or to reserve your space. I look forward sharing the studio with many of you and of course I am open to your suggestions as well. Jim Ellis ArtSpace THE
VILLAGE FRAMERY As many of you know by now, The Art Bank has decided to discontinue classes at. I was sad to hear of her decision, but I do understand her reasons and wish Cathy the best. She has promised to visit often and would like to do some workshops here in the future. That said … this does present a new opportunity. I feel that The Art Bank classes added a lot to our arts community and have discussed offering classes with a few of your fellow artists. So ……… To get things started, Paul Spangler has agreed to be our first instructor. Paul is initially offering a 4 week class in pen & ink with watercolor and the use of erasers and charcoal pencil to achieve different textures. Paul says “this will be a rather simple exercise, nothing too involved” to get classes started. The 2nd session of classes begin May 8 on Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30 - this helps Paul with travel expenses as he is in town to manage the winery Friday afternoons. Cost is $50 per person including ArtSpace. Details and a materials list is provided below or Paul said he will order supplies at cost. Space is limited, so PLEASE get back to us right away to register. You may contact him at the winery or by email at artistforhire69@yahoo.com if you have questions. As mentioned above, I have also talked with some others and we are looking at the possibility of an evening class and/or workshops on a variety of subjects. Stay tuned! Of course, ArtSpace is available for non-students as well and keep in mind that all ArtSpace participants have unlimited use of the space, frame shop discounts, and more. Questions?? 618/586-2701 or email me. We look forward to hearing
from you. Please share. Word of mouth is much less expensive than advertising and helps keep costs lower. “A Study in Texture & Tone”
